2020 Season Postponed

Dear RALL Community,

As you are fully aware, we are living in uncertain times, and we hope you are all well and safe.

We are reaching today to give you an update on the 2020 Little League Season, answer some questions, and give you insight into our collective decision on the season. Please understand that these decisions were not arrived at lightly, and were a group effort by the Board, and were based on facts provided by Little League International, The State of Vermont Governor's Office, and Local Board input.

Our Board is:

Erik Hemmett - President
Rick Gouse - VP, Secretary, and IT
Jamie Valyou - Treasurer
Jessica Shook - Baseball Coordinator
James Balaski - Softball Corrdinator
Colby Morrill - Equipment
Jim Estes - Fields Coordinator
Deb George - Registration Coordinator
Jennifer Snow - Registration Coordinator

We have unanimously decided to postpone the 2020 season indefinitely.

Below are some questions and answers that will help you understand the decision, and map out how the league will be moving forward

Why did you postpone the season?

As of May 7th, the State of VT is strictly prohibiting Little League Games. Adding to that, there are strict guidelines that need to be followed for outdoor activity including maintaining 6 ft social distance, wearing of face protection, and limiting gatherings to no more than 10 people. We do not feel that we as volunteer board members and volunteer coaches have the training, resources, and ability to keep your players and families 100% safe while participating in team activities. We feel that the risk at practice and the inability to play
games precludes us form continuing at the current time.

Will you be issuing refunds?

Yes. The league will be issuing FULL REFUNDS to ALL participants starting on Friday May 8th. We will be issuing the full $60 per registrant, but are not able to refund the $3 processing fee as that is a charge to you at the time of the initial registration which we do not have control over. We are looking into including that $3 as a credit towards next season's registration. The refund will be credited to the Credit Card used for the registration. If you paid by check, we will be voiding and shredding the check without depositing it. If for any reason you have further questions on that process, please drop us an e-mail at [email protected]

What happens if the State's restrictions ease to the point where a season could be started?

We are continuing to adhere to the State of VT orders as well as direction of VT D1 Little League. When/If the Board feels that practices can start with minimal restrictions, and games can be played safely, we will Re-Open the 2020 registration for those that want to play, and the registration fee will be $0 for the revised season. Please look for updates via E-Mail from the league and check the website often

My Son/Daughter really wants to play. Can they play with another league if they are continuing their programs?

Yes. Little League has allowed players to play with another league in 2020, as long as they return to Richmond LL in 2021. If this is the case for your family, please contact us at [email protected] , and we will see what we can help to arrange. Keep in mind that all other leagues are in the "No Games" situation now as well, so games will not be played in any league until the State allows. Also, remember that if the state of VT lifts those restrictions, Richmond LL will attempt to field teams for a revised season.

What will the dates of the revised season be?

Unknown at this time. When and if games are allowed, we will be scheduling games and practices based on interest, and our ability to field team(s).

How will we be updated on Season status?

We will be communicating via E-Mail, on the website, and our facebook page. As always, please reach out to us via E-Mail with questions or concerns.

Please stay safe, we miss you, and we will do all we can do get the season started when it is safe to do so.
